Royal Blu impresses while showcasing depth in “Spain Root”.
The Jamaican artist is able to inspire listeners while taking us on a journey from growing up in Jamaica’s Spanish Town to life today on the stage performing in front of fans in Kingston.
I really love the way Blu is able to mix up his sound while both singing and delivering lyrics in a more hip hop style.
The album is also diverse with both fast pace tracks to get you pumped and slower paced jams with a romantic twist.
The album kicks off the catchy title track taking us on a journey with Blu during his early days and dreaming big. I love the catchy hook and respect Blu’s flow and energy.
“Light My Way” featuring Kabaka Pyramid and The Autos is a stand out track with a jamming riddim. The song shares an important message to push obstacles to the side while maintaining focus and faith.
Royal Blu is a terrific storyteller and you really connect with his visual lyrics in “Life From Kingston” featuring Protoje. I love how Blu captured this big moment in his life and career by taking over the stage in this memorable song.
Speaking of a good narrative, Royal Blu highlights his abilities to write thoughtful and honest love songs in “Shoulda Love” and “Stranger Twice”. Love can have its ups and downs and Blu brilliantly captures the journey in these sexy tracks perfect for the dance floor.
Blu reminds us to appreciate the moment while not dwelling on the past in “Way Too Fast”.
“Spain Root” might be Royal Blu’s debut album, but he’s proving he’s already in the big leagues!
