Reach for higher heights with Rasta Rick’s “Bird Of Paradise”. The beautiful song about being our best self, reaching for goals and enjoying the journey is one of the jamming tracks off the “Bird Of Paradise Riddim (Big Bus Riddim Series Vol. 1)” album.

SOJA’s cover of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” has us so excited to jam along with the upcoming release of “Pop Punk Goes Reggae”. The release is the rad passion project of Iya Terra’s Nathan Aurora, who has since released the equally awesome cover of My Chemical Romance’s “Helena”.

Song of the Week returns with “Uma” by J Boog. The easy listening track was released by Ineffable Records this Friday, and is the perfect track to close out summer.

Namibia’s Ysaehi Konrad helps us keep our head up with “Feels Going Down”. The talented singer-songwriter’s single showcases his passion and talent as a vocalist. I love the track’s empowering message to stay positive and to stay strong even when obstacles come our way.

Photo Recap: The smoking skulls inflated on each side of the stage as the crowd generated some noise to show support for what was about to happen on stage. Based out of Ocean Beach, Kyle, Miles and the crew of Slightly Stoopid soon appeared to a standing ovation from the audience. Their set was still during the daylight in an open amphitheater, so the light show was not as impressive as it usually is, but you could tell there was a lot going on.

Ireland’s Weedway reflects on the early days of love in “Because Of You”. The Dublin-based band showcases its big time sound in this track and I especially love listening to the smooth vocals, impressive guitar work, and feeling the group’s energy.

California rocker Kyle Smith is on the East Coast as part of his Grill ‘Em All tour. Smith rarely makes it to this side of the country so make sure to catch him while he’s here. I’ll be at the Jammin’ Java show in Vienna, Virginia, so come say hi if you around! Get tickets for a show near you!

Daily Reggae connected with Lionfox Mastering’s Mike Caplan to hear about the mastering specialist’s approach to working with many of the biggest names in reggae, how the genre’s sound keeps evolving, and even his work in professional baseball!

Review Week: “Look How Long” by Kava Jah and The Remedy is among the best roots reggae albums of 2023. Kava Jah is an extremely Jamaican talented singer-songwriter and musician and he puts his all into this absolutely beautiful album.

Micah Shemaiah’s uplifting spirit is in full display in “Jamaica Jamaica”. The album opens with the powerful title track, which calls out the need for Jamaica to come together to better address societal issues. You can hear the urgency in Shemaiah’s voice over the riddim and it definitely catches the listener’s ear.
