Start 2024 off right with SunDub and Brooklyn Reggae Night! Daily Reggae caught up with SunDub’s Ben Teters to learn more about the exciting show scheduled for January 5, 2024, the Brooklyn band’s amazing run of recent concerts, and new music on the way!

Hey Ben! We are huge SunDub fans! The band had an amazing run of summer shows - what were some of your favorites?

Hi CB, thank you so much for having me on Daily Reggae. Summer 2023 was a lot of fun for SunDub. We played a run of shows with Mike Love in August - that was a great week of music, his band is top notch. The Green Mountain Smoke Out in Vermont is an awesome event and we hope to return this year. Ithaca Reggae Festival is another one of our favorites. An amazing, family-friendly festival and really good vibe up there. We also had the pleasure of supporting Cultura Profética this past October at The Brooklyn Mirage in Brooklyn, NY. That was a career highlight for sure.

Spirits Eat Music was an incredible album! How does the band bring that energy to its live shows?

Thank you! We are very proud of Spirits Eat Music, and it has been an amazing experience performing this album all year long. One of the main ideas behind SunDub and Spirits Eat Music is that music serves as a form of nourishment, fueling beings who no longer exist in this physical earthly realm. When SunDub performs, we are not only performing for “entertainment” purposes, but we are performing and energizing a higher power that connects to us all. We hold this idea central to our performances, and we have had some amazing moments in 2023. Looking forward to many more next year.

Speaking of live shows, you have a big one coming up in your hometown of Brooklyn, NY! Tell us about the show!

Yes. This is a big one. On Saturday, January 5th SunDub headlines the Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY for the first Brooklyn Reggae Night. We have helped to curate an amazing lineup, including SunDub, Mighty Mystic, Anant Pradhan & Larry McDonald, DJs Night Nurse - Amy Wachtel, Digital English, and JonnyGo Figure, with specials guests Kim Pommel, Earl Brooks Jr., and Coolie Ranx.

Brooklyn Reggae Night will also feature the upcoming film BAD LIKE, BROOKLYN DANCEHALL. We will be showing portions of the film throughout the evening.

We put this event together as more than just a SunDub show. We want to shine light on, the incredibly rich and diverse reggae music scene in the Brooklyn and New York City area, from the artists, bands, and DJs to the fans and supporters of the music and culture that make this all possible. We invite you to join us on Friday, January 5th at Brooklyn Bowl in Brooklyn, NY for Brooklyn Reggae Night.
