From the moment you turn up Crashboat’s latest single, In This City, you groove to the irie bass line. We love the bass and guitar riff and caught up with the band hailing from Merced, California to learn more about the song’s inspiration and band. In This City, released September 20th, was recorded at White Glove Studios and mastered by Silver Aleman.

“The lyrics and riddim to In This City were written by me and my long time musician friend John Velasquez. The lyrics are inspired by my feelings about my hometown at the time. It’s a big thanks to the reggae community and the good vibes and great feelings it brings. An original version of this song may still be floating around the internet somewhere. But the latest take on the song with the hard work of Crashboat has taken it to a new level. With the addition of all that encompasses Crashboat, In This City is now ready for the air waves,” said Justin Cardenas (lead vocals and rhythm guitar).

The band said, “Crashboat is a band of six individuals from different walks of life brought together by their love of reggae music. Their sound consists of a melding of their various influences, from old school roots, modern “California” reggae, hard rock, and much more. They are excited to share their unique brand of reggae music with the world.”

In This City is a really cool reggae rock song and we cannot wait to hear the band’s next tune!

In This City by Crashboat is the Daily Reggae Song of the Day.
