Daily Reggae caught up with Nathan Aurora to learn about the reggae rock artist’s exciting new music venture, aurorawave!

Nathan - Congratulations on your new music venture, aurorawave! This is huge news for the reggae music scene and we are super excited to follow along closely! Is aurorawave the name of your new band?

Thank you so much guys, I really appreciate it! Yes, aurorawave is the official name of the new project.

2023 was such a big year for the cross pollination of reggae music across genres. And your Pop Punk Goes Reggae was one of the highlights of this evolution. What genres will aurorawave converge?

It really was and I love to see the genre grow. aurorawave is a culmination of a lot of different genres – mostly reggae -  about 75%. But some of the songs go super heavy.

It’s kind of picking up where Iya Terra left off in terms of blending in some of the melodic elements of metal and some really driving riffs.

I don’t know, I’m really in a space now where I’m just not overthinking it, letting the music flow and taking me where it wants to go. I didn’t set out to combine specific genres or anything. I’m just writing songs and following their lead.

There’s definitely also plenty of just straight-up modern reggae bangers, a few with hip hop influence and some of the heavies.

When can fans expect to hear aurorawave music, and how will you bring that experience to fans in-person?

This week is gonna be filled with some insane announcements regarding all that stuff. I’m not sure when this interview will come out, but know that we’ve got a bunch of new tunes coming up and some really awesome tour dates ready to be announced. Make sure to follow us on Instagram @aurorawavemusic for all the deets!

You have so much going with being a new father, aurorawave and also Crossed Heart Clothing! How do you keep up your energy level and balance all these incredible aspects of your life?

Man, it really is a lot, but I love this stuff. I’m definitely a bit of a workaholic and every day I’ve got to create something to be fulfilled. This time off of the road in between bands has been really awesome in terms of getting to spend so much time with my son and my family and I have found a really cool routine where I’m able to get all sorts of work done in the odd hours of the night. I really do pride myself on my work ethic and it’s so nice to be in a place where I’ve got these few specific outlets to express myself creatively in different ways!

Thank you guys so much for taking the time to ask about the new project. Seriously can’t wait to unveil it all and all the cool stuff we’ve been working on. Appreciate you guys and beyond excited for this year!
