Daily Reggae caught up with Morgan Heritage’s Peetah Morgan to learn about the two time GRAMMY Award winning reggae band’s new single, “Just A Number”.

The band is planning to release a new album due out later this year that we cannot wait to hear!

We are loving your new single, “Just A Number”. The topic of the song spotlights the importance of staying conscious and managing money.

What inspired the band to create a song on this topic and is it a reminder for all people?

What inspired the topic of this song is simply what we all see going on today with people in the entertainment field.

And the message is for young and old to not make the same mistakes as those who made these type of mistakes before.

Morgan Heritage has such a rich history as a band and you continue to inspire fans around the world! How does the band find time to balance writing new songs, and performing live in concert?

The balance between writing songs and performing is not difficult… writing songs can come at anytime and anywhere. Inspiration is controlled or dictated… inspiration is ever flowing and free.

What was it like teaming up with Kareem “Remus” Burrell in the production of “Just A Number? What makes his creative approach unique?

Teaming up with Kareem was a joy. We’ve worked with his father Philip “Fatis” Burrell many times in the past. Now working with Kareem is just carrying on the legacy.

Is Morgan Heritage planning to a release a new EP, or album in 2023?

We are releasing an album this year.

Who are some of the band’s favorite reggae artists to listen to these days? Is there anyone that you’d love to collaborate with?

We love the work this new generation of artist are putting in. Every artist offers something different in their own right. A few artist we enjoy listening to are Romain Virgo, Kabaka Pyramid, Jemere Morgan, Stonebwoy, Jesse Royal and so many more.
