Jamaican superstar Buju Banton proves once again he is “BORN FOR GREATNESS” in the artist’s latest album.

Banton sings with such a soulful voice, and he is an amazing lyricist / storyteller. This album’s production is top notch across the board.

It was released on September 8th through Gargamel Music / Roc Nation / Def Jam and distributed in the Caribbean by Tuff Gong International.

I love the guitar and beautiful riddim in the album’s opening track, “AGELESS TIME”. Banton reflects on life while asking for clarity and shining light on societal issues. The listener is left with a feeling of hope and is inspired to push for better days like those of years past.

The more dancehall flavored beat drops in “LIFE CHOICES” and Banton shares an important message that we each control our destiny. The track has a chill vibe yet will also pump you up and inspire you to take action.

The album’s title track is one of the best songs of 2023. The riddim is absolute fire connecting reggae, dancehall and hip hop, and Banton showcases his lyrical flow, vocals and all around star power. I love the song’s guitar as well - it adds a super cool element to the track.

When Banton takes the mic time tends to stop and all your attention goes to listening to what the artist has to say. He’s that good! Banton reflects on the dark days while searching for light in “YARD AND OUTTA ROAD”. He shares a message of love and carries the beautiful riddim.

Things are spiced up in “BODY TOUCHING BODY”. This is a big time love song and Victoria Monét showcases her star power in the duet. Her voice is absolutely amazing! This song is perfect for date night or to rock any dance floor.

SWEETER” is another love song featuring a unique riddim that will get passion flowing. The beats chosen for this album were so on point and Banton delivers over and over again.

The great Stephen Marley teams with Banton in “FEEL A WAY” and the dynamic duo compliment one another so well. This love song is a vibe, and I’d love if Banton and Marley would consider teaming on a full album!

I love the horns and keys in “NUFF LOVE YOU”, a track celebrating the journey (including the ups and downs) of love and that special someone. This one will get you dancing on your feet and I have to hear Banton play this song live some day!

The piano slow things down in “WE FIND A WAY”, an important motivational track that delivers a message about staying on our path and believing that things will continue to improve. The song is about love, community and lifting each other up. It’s one of the album’s stand up tracks without a doubt.

Snoop Dogg makes an appearance in “HIGH LIFE” a track with an irie bass line and feel. It’s fun hearing these two legends vibing over the beat.

TRIAL BY FIRE” is another song with such an amazing groove that would be amazing to hear performed live. Banton asks for guidance and unified people.

Banton’s voice matters and I appreciate his honest reflection and passion heard throughout the album.
