Reggae star Alborosie shines star power in San Diego, California.

Reggae star Alborosie shined and rising band F.Y.A.H. showcased their jamming sound on Sunday night at the House of Blues San Diego.

A jam packed audience including many loyal Alborosie fans enjoyed an irie night of roots reggae music!

JWADI

Let’s start with JWADI. The singer-songwriter (formerly of The Movement) opened the evening with some soulful jams and impressive acoustic guitar.

JWADI recently moved to Santa Barbara from the East Coast and has an inspiring story to tell. (More on that later)!

The performance inspired me to listen to his 2023 album, “ALL THAT GLITTERS”, and highly recommend you give it a listen!

F.Y.A.H.

Following JWADI was the rising (and for good reason) Kingston, Jamaica-based band, F.Y.A.H.

F.Y.A.H. and Alborosie are both part of the VP Records family and the band put on an impressive feel good set. Delroy "Pele" Hamilton dropped good vibe filled bass lines and we were super impressed with the stage presence of singer, Elton Earlington along with the smooth guitar work of Nicolas Groskopf.

F.Y.A.H.

The highlight of the set for me was the band playing its brand new single, “Cool Down”, which had the crowd singing along the whole time. Mid track the band seamlessly transitioned into Marvin Gaye’s classic “Sexual Healing” and then went back into “Cool Down”. It was so creative and the fans were loving every second!

Expect big things ahead for F.Y.A.H.; these guys deserve an even bigger audience behind Earlington’s honey-smooth vocals.

Alborosie

Alborosie is one of those talented artists that makes performing look effortless. The reggae star’s playful dialogue with the crowd had fans singing along throughout the carefully crafted set.

This was our first time seeing Alborosie perform live, and loved his message of love and positivity and how ‘Reggae people are good people’.

Alborosie

The singer-songwriter has such an impressive music portfolio and the fans loved hearing songs like his big time hits “Kingston Town” and “Still Blazing” along with new fan favorites off his stellar “Destiny” album like “Nah Sell Out”.

Alborosie’s band was fantastic, and I especially appreciated that he had two guitarists complimenting one another along with a super talented drummer and bassist that were locked in.

If you have the chance to attend an Alborosie show you know it’s going to be an inspiring time. The singer doesn’t sing for people. He sings with people. And we love every second of it!
