Daily Reggae spoke with The Resolvers to learn about the 9 piece band’s powerful sound, life in the Florida reggae scene, and new music on the way!

Tell us about The Resolvers! When did the band get together and what’s your creativity process like?

The band has been together since 2007. Our first show with all of our current members was in 2010 opening for The Original Wailers. Being such a large group the creative process has been unique. Everybody in the group brings something to the table, and adds their own dash of flavor. We all have very diverse backgrounds so the music is going to naturally have many different sounds. Some being rooted in reggae, but also including soul, funk, rock, latin, r&b and jazz.

You have such an incredible roots reggae sound! How many members are in the band and is it challenging finding time to bring the band together to write and record?

We are a 9 piece band. With that many moving parts we have to coordinate schedules, practice & recording carefully.  Amazingly, the group communicates & cooperates really well together and we make it happen. I think because we enjoy it so much we are always able to find time to write and record.

Your latest single, “This Man” is so irie! How did this track come together?

Sahara (Smith) put together a demo of This Man and brought it to the band to expand upon. She brought the tune to life on stage over a period of a few months and we just let it evolve and grow. This Man has a lot of heart and soul, we all poured a bit into it, and I think it's become one of our favorite songs to play live.

You have some great live shows coming up! What is the Florida reggae scene like and is the band based in the same city?

Honestly, we are lucky to be a part of such a great music scene in South Florida. Most people don't automatically associate Florida with reggae music but we are seeing that notion start to change! And it’s not just South Florida, but also up the Treasure Coast and Space Coast, Central Florida and Jacksonville too. The scene is really exploding with more festivals, promoters, bands and fans. The main reason we have been able to keep doing this for so long is because the live music scene in South Florida is STRONG!

We are all based out of southeast Florida, from Hollywood down south to Lake Worth in Palm Beach County.

We loved your Live at Sugarshack Sessions EP! It’s such a great glimpse into the band’s live sound! What was that experience like and do you have new music on the way in 2023?

The Sugarshack crew is incredible!! We are so glad we were able to link up with them and do that session. We have a lot of new music on the way so the timing could not have been better.

Keep your eyes peeled, we have a few videos in the works and are putting together a brand new album in the near future.  We are so thankful to have so much support and amazing fans, thank you - we will be playing more shows, festivals and releasing new music and videos, so stay tuned.... Thank You!
