Daily Reggae caught up with the incredible Sierra Lane, a Jupiter Florida-based singer songwriter, who is signed to LAW Records, to learn more about her creativity process, band, and new music in the works!

Hey Sierra! Tell us about your song writing process! Do you have one set way of writing new songs?

I don’t really have a specific method to writing music. I like to follow the creativity where ever it wants to go. Some days I’ll come up with an entire song, and other days I’ll walk away with nothing. I think the important thing when expressing creativity is patience. It’s okay to walk away from a session with nothing to show for it, and that’s okay. Getting out the bad ideas makes room for all the good ideas our brains are capable of coming up with!

Your three singles are absolutely amazing! I especially love your new single, “Someone Else”. How did that song come about?

Thanks so much, I’m so glad you enjoyed them! My most recent single Someone Else is a song about a break up I had about two years ago. I wasn’t really happy in the relationship I was in, and I also had my heart set on “someone else” haha. Looking back at the situation I’ve learned two things; break ups make for great songwriting, and everything works out the way it’s supposed to!

How long have you and your band been together? Do you all collaborate on new music?

I’ve been working with my band mates for about four years now and I’m so grateful for the time I’ve gotten to play music with them and get to know them. It feels like we all speak the same language musically, and we’re a perfect match! All the songs I’ve written have all of our personalities mixed together and it feels like magic. I can’t wait to write more with them in the future!

What are some upcoming shows that you’re excited for?!

For New Years this year we will be playing in Charleston, SC for the first time with Little Stranger, which we’re so stoked for. We also have some shows with Artikal Sound System coming up in January, as well as a tour with Bumpin Uglies in March!

Are you working towards an EP or full album? Either way we cannot wait to listen!

The goal for right now is definitely working towards an EP! We have a few more singles we plan to release, but we definitely see a bigger project coming out in the near future!
