Nattali Rize to release new album Worldwide Rebellion in 2021

Dailyreggae.com caught up with Nattali Rize to learn about her journey as a musician and new album, Worldwide Rebellion, to be released in 2021.

Tell me about your new single. What inspired the song and what was the recording process like?

My new single is called Indestructible featuring Kumar. It's the third single from my forthcoming album, Worldwide Rebellion. The riddim comes from a talented French production crew called 4 Examples and of course the incredibly rich and fyah-full tone of Kumar really brings a soulful energy to the whole song.

I recorded my vocal parts in my home studio and we recorded Kumar at Tuff Gong International in Kingston, Jamaica. Kumar and I have worked together on different musical and community projects before, so it was a very natural and upful vibration in the studio. It always is!

I love making music and art with Kumar and also being inspired with this song by the nature of independent artists who relentlessly grind, which is also reflected in so many aspects of other industries and life itself.

To be relentless and reclaim our power by following our highest self's guidance to our true paths. This energy is indestructible. Just like creativity, music and love.

What inspires you as a musician?

The world around me. The Universe inside me. The world I can vision in the near, and not so near, future.

Can you tell me about your journey as a musician from the early days to today?

My early days included street performance as a percussionist/drummer. Also, learning guitar from my mother and then a number of teachers along the way. My first love was my acoustic guitar and the blues.

Drumming and world music has played a huge roll in inspiring the music I create and continues to bring me so much joy.

Today, I perform with a five-piece band from Jamaica, and we include these elements of my musical background with our collective love of roots, reggae and conscious music to inspire real and positive changes both in our own lives and those we share this earthly school and experience with.

What is the music scene like in Australia? Where are you based and are there many reggae fans in Australia?

There are heaps of amazing artists, a very diverse and multicultural music scene as well as a huge amount of incredible First Nations artists and bands.

The reggae scene in Australia is small in comparison to other continents but it's definitely growing and rizing steadily.

Is your process for creating your solo songs versus creating music with another artist different? Do you play guitar on all of your songs?

There's not one exact same process I use every time I create my songs. It varies depending on the particular song or riddim or energy at the time.

I love collaborating with other artists, producers and musicians. This has definitely become one of my favorite ways to work. Sometimes up to four of us will vibe on a song at the same time and collectively write the lyrics and melodies together. I like the energy of this style of process. It's raw and instant like creativity in hyper drive!

In contrast, my other favorite way to craft songs is by myself, with just my acoustic or electric guitar.

Do you plan to release new music in 2021?

My second album, Worldwide Rebellion is due for release in 2021!

Indestructible featuring Kumar is the third single from that album. The first two singles are Fear & Dread and the title track, Worldwide Rebellion.

Keep an eye out for the full album in 2021. I hope to be able to tour the album in as many places as possible.

During these shifting times, music and live music in particular is definitely an essential service for the people!

Keep Rizing Family. One Love is Action.
