There is no doubt Kabaka Pyramid is one of the best on the microphone in today’s music scene. And I’m not just referring to the reggae genre; Kabaka’s flow, creativity and words are a game changer and music fans are going to love his new album (mixtape), “Rebel Music: The Lyrics Tape”.

The LP is Kabaka’s best work to date and uniquely blends reggae and hip hop. From the top tier riddim aka beat production to Kabaka’s electric energy delivering passionate vocals, this album is a big time vibe.

I love the notion of rebel music and Kabaka getting back to his roots. When paired, reggae and hip hop music create a beautiful sound with big time heart. This is a reggae album without a doubt, but hip hop fans have to give it a listen!

There is great hip hop music out there but I’d argue part of the genre lacks depth and a message to unite and connect through love. This is where reggae shines. Kabaka Pyramid’s music hits on topics from uplifting our community, taking time to reflect while finding growth, and leaning into love. His voice is crucial in today’s world and this album deserves Album of the Year contention.

The songs that I have spinning on repeat are “Rebel Music (I’m Back)”, “My Baby”, “Rotation”, and “Action”.
