San Diego-based artist, Skyler Lutes’ new album, “Never Leaving” is an absolute head banger!

When I listen to Lutes, his music makes me want to take up surfing or at least jam his blend of reggae and surf rock on my next boat trip!

I’m actually listening to the album high up in the skies as I travel to Italy with my wife and our two year old son and even though I’m far from the beach, Lutes' jamming guitar and impressive vocals are bringing me so much chill!

Gotta Get Back” is one of those genre cross over tracks that I love and Lutes puts a serious stamp on. The verse starts with a reggae feel and by the time the chorus hits, the punk rock force is in full effect.

Lutes collabs with Sensi Trails in the track, “Free” and once again I’m taken aback by Lutes’ talent and how hard he brings it with some of the most shredding reggae guitar yet of 2023. Lutes is pushing boundaries and this one will inspire you to chase your dreams in your own unique fashion.

Ride It Out” has a mellow feel and is a perfect beach cruising tune. This will be a cool one to hear at a Lutes show. The track is a great glimpse into the album - thoughtful lyrics, smooth production and in your face guitar shredding. Most people think of acoustic guitar and reggae but I appreciate how Lutes is able to use electric guitar to spice up his style of reggae rock.

Far Away” is a beautiful song that partnered Lutes with Veronica Quin. The track has some great depth and might even inspire your next trip. You can also feel some island vibes with Lutes’ “Rewind”, a really nice love song about living in the moment.

The album’s title track is a great reflection about happily following your dreams and staying true to yourself. You will definitely feel the heart that Lutes puts into his music.

Expect big things ahead for this reggae rocker including an upcoming set at Reggae Riseup Vegas! Rock on Skyler!
