See your favorite bands like Pepper, Tribal Seeds, Fortunate Youth and HIRIE in San Diego at Mission Bayfest 2023. The two day festival is running September 29th and 30th and has a stellar lineup!

Micah Shemaiah’s uplifting spirit is in full display in “Jamaica Jamaica”. The album opens with the powerful title track, which calls out the need for Jamaica to come together to better address societal issues. You can hear the urgency in Shemaiah’s voice over the riddim and it definitely catches the listener’s ear.

Cruise to the beach while jamming along with Pepper’s “Get Me Ready (Aloha Remix)”. I love the smooth keys and drum pattern in this jamming Pepper remix. It’s cool listening to this version and then taking in the original, which dropped earlier this year!

“Setting Out for the Sun” showcases Claire Wright’s creativity, chill vibes, and big time voice. The 10-track album, released by Ineffable Records, highlights Wright’s talent as a singer-songwriter and beautifully blends pop, rock and reggae in an all around relaxing experience.

Start your day by watching Nick Sefakis’ “Wake Up” music video. I love the vibe of this track, its irie riddim, and the video’s visuals that were filmed in Jamaica and California.

You may or may not have heard the name yet, but chances are if you’re into the American reggae genre of music, you will! Since mid-2021, Michael Sky has been busy recording and releasing track after track, gaining huge traction with reggae-lovers everywhere.

Reggae legend Johnny Osbourne’s latest album, “Right Right Time” is an instant classic. The talented singer songwriter teamed up with the French Connexion Band and the collaboration created a fresh sound that is amongst the best new reggae that I’ve heard in recent years.

Dance the night away with Answele’s new single, “Ravin”. The talented Jamaican artist teamed with Sean 'Young Pow' Diedrick on the song’s production and this track is a vibe! The energy that Answele brings to the mic is contagious and I love the song’s message of celebration.

Time to get excited for Buju Banton’s new album, “Born For Greatness”. I’ve been jamming to the singles released and especially feel the album’s title track! The reggae legend’s new album is due out on Sept. 8, 2023 and is being released by Gargamel Music/ Roc Nation Records / Def Jam Recordings.

Christopher Ellis emphasizes the importance of unity and a community first mentality in “Stick Together”. I am loving Ellis’ vocals and the song’s fantastic message of togetherness.

Start this week with Kyle Smith’s “What We Had”. In typical Kyle fashion he finds a way to put a positive spin on life’s toughest moments, and this simple but beautiful reggae pop melody is no different. Reflecting on a tough upbringing, Kyle delivers another great track from the man that can’t and won’t stop!

Ballyhoo!’s “Drunk Texter” featuring HIRIE is yet another example they are releasing some of the raddest reggae rock on the scene. Every time I see that Ballyhoo! is dropping a new single, I know it’s going to be fire! Howi Spangler is amongst the best songwriters in reggae today, and Ballyhoo!’s guitars consistently shred so freaking hard!

Enjoy every second of the journey with The Resinators’ new single, “Anthem”. The San Diego-based band is pushing boundaries with their blend of reggae, rock, punk and funk, and I’m really enjoying this head banging track showcasing the group’s cohesion and passion.

Ahead of their new album, listen to Better Chemistry’s rocking track, “Can’t Stop Thinking”. The Southern California reggae rockers are set to release their new album, “Hope That It’s Real” this fall, and the new single gives a great glimpse into the band’s jamming sound!

Reggae superstar, Protoje has dropped dates for a must-see California Summer Tour featuring Dubwise. The tour runs Aug. 22 - 27.
